Mariah knew she wanted a homebirth the minute she found out she was pregnant. For her, welcoming her baby in the comfort and familiarity of her own home created a deep connection and feeling of empowerment. Mamas just know what is best for them and their baby, and Mariah followed her instincts every step of the way.

As Mariah's birthing journey progressed, she tuned into her body's cues and followed her gut instinct. During this time, she decided to try out the comb method to aid through labor. It's a simple yet effective trick, using the comb's bristles to find some relief and stay centered. Her intuitive decisions and trust in her body during her home birth go to show the incredible power women hold within us.

As the baby was about to make its grand entrance, Dad was right by Mariah's side, offering his support and encouragement. Meanwhile, Mariah, despite all the intensity, managed to find a moment to enjoy a popsicle – talk about multitasking! You could feel the excitement and anticipation building up in the room.

....

BABY IS HERE!!

Baby is finally here – the moment that makes it all worth it. And it's a GIRL! Mariah and her husband didn't know the sex of the baby, so this meeting was extra special.

After the baby's arrival, Mariah spent some precious moments soaking in the warm water with her brand new, perfect little girl. It was a scene of pure love as we witnessed the first meeting of mama and her baby, the baby latching on and filling her belly with nourishment, and the overwhelming love shared between mom and dad.

After cutting the cord and ensuring that both mama and baby were cleaned up and comfortable, Mariah made her way to her bedroom, taking in the quiet moments shared with her new family of three. It was a time of peace and love, allowing them to bond and take in the joy of their new arrival, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

After some thorough checks and tests by Mariah's midwife and doula, both Baby Ophelia and Mama were given the all-clear, right from the cozy comfort of their own bed. It's such a relief to hear that both our lovely ladies are doing fantastic and are ready to dive into this exciting new chapter of their family's journey.

A few weeks later, it was such a joy to have Ophelia, her mom, and dad join me at my studio for some newborn photos. It felt like everything had come full circle – from speaking with Mariah almost a year ago about her birth journey, to being right there witnessing the miracle of life, to now capturing these precious moments with their beautiful baby girl right in front of us. It's moments like these that remind me why I love what I do, and I'm so grateful to be a part of these unforgettable milestones with my clients.
